D.I.E.Disaster and Immediate Evacuation, LLC‘s history started several years ago when Barrington Polite found himself stranded underground during the New York City 2003 Summer Blackout (Power-Outage) no flashlight, no equipment of any kind, finding himself walking from Canal Street to West 4th street, in complete darkness, helping an eldery couple on holiday from Europe. Mind you, when I reached back to my flat, in my neighborhood, there were two senior citizens missing from our block and no one had a clue on how to find them. That's when Barrington "swang" in to action. Not to mention, all of this started in a little tiny office in New York City in a little Village called HARLEM, on 125th Street and Morningside Ave.

CERT is a great training to have under your belt to say the least. Preparing for disasters is nothing to laugh about, or frown about. As we at D.I.E. have stated on numerous occassions, we don't care where you get your training from, we just want you to get it! The less people that are trained, the more resources has to be applied to those unprepared individuals which slows up rescue operations. In this clip it will show you just how much CERT can be a benefit to you, your love one's, and your community. Get Prepared!
Barrington has also made Deputy Chief for Community Board #3 in the Bronx, NY under the leadership of C.E.R.T. Team Chief Wali Abdur-noor. Right now we are recruiting candidates for the upcoming NYC C.E.R.T. basic training classes that will begin in September 2011 which is a 10 week course, one day a week, evening hours, and a graduation ceremony with a certificate of completion at the end of the course. We look forward to new membership to a wonderful training that one can receive to get there home, business, or themselves prepared for disasters or a hazardous situation. So come one!, come all! and get Prepared! All trainings are giving through The Office of Emergency Management Office (O.E.M.). If you want to be a part of a well organized team, fill out the pre-screening application below and return it to Barrington at: BarringtonPolite@disandimmevac.com.

C.E.R.T. volunteers have an heavy task resting on their shoulders as they mitigate certain emergencies until first responders deem the incident at hand safe enough for the public and C.E.R.T. volunteers to move around safely & securely. C.E.R.T. members are an intrugal part of the incident or scheduled events that the general public depend on. In this case, City College was a great place for the C.E.R.T. members to test their training that they received.
